Síle O'Donnell
Síle O'Donnell was
born in February 1870 in Craghey, Dungloe, Co. Donegal, to Bridget Brennan and Denis O'Donnell.
According to the information on the ship manifest that was taken when Síle travelled in 1911, she was in the US from 1901-1909.

Her next recorded trip was in October, 1911 when she sailed again to the US with her cousin, Cecelia McGlynn from Meenderryherk, Dungloe. Síle’s age is stated as being 38 and she was a cook. The cousins were travelling to James Ward’s residence – 421 Broadway, Bayonne. Síle’s complexion was dark and she had black hair and grey eyes. Síle and Cecelia McGlynn were detained upon arrival at Ellis Island on the 2nd October and discharged on the 3rd.
On 29th October 1922, Síle (age stated as 43) travelled to Bayonne, New Jersey. Her occupation was, again, cook. It was recorded that her last residence was Bayonne, she was in America from 1898-1922 in Jersey City and she was returning to her sister, Grace ‘Watt’ (should have been ‘Ward’), 29 East 48th Street, Bayonne, NJ. Her appearance was down as 5ft 2in, fair complexion, black hair and brown eyes.
Sile married Edward (Eddie) Browne, son of Charles Brown and Catherine O’Donnell. He was born in June 1868 in Loughsalt, Dungloe, Co. Donegal.
We know from census returns that Eddie was in Loughsalt in 1901 and 1911.
Eddie travelled to his sister, Mrs [Anne] Ward at 458 Broadway, Bayonne on 14th May 1911. It was his first trip to the US. His nearest relative in Ireland was his sister, Mrs Given, Loughsalt.
Along with brother, John, Eddie was living with his sister, Annie Ward, in New Jersey in 1920. He was 58 and not married.
Eddie died on 23 Dec 1953 in Loughsalt. His nephew, Patrick Given, was present at death.
Síle, a widow, lived with her sister, Máire McGee in Craghey until she died on 19 Jun 1961, aged 91.
